Prague City Court on Wednesday handed down a prison sentence to Tomáš Kovanda from Slovakia. Last October, he stabbed his girlfriend in the back with a knife in a flat in the city centre.

Tomáš Kovanda from Slovakia heard the verdict of Prague City Court on Wednesday. He received a sentence for last year's attack on his girlfriend, in which he stabbed her in the back in the city centre. According to Pražský deník, he used a kitchen knife with a twenty-four-centimetre blade for the attack.
The entire incident occurred in October of last year in a flat in the city centre. The dispute began over finances. The woman repeatedly accused the man of not paying rent and not contributing to running their shared household. Kovanda also had another mistress who was also demanding money from him. The pressure from both relationships led him to a brutal solution. He went into the kitchen, took the knife and struck the blow at the woman lying on the bed.
The court verdict is not yet final. Apart from time behind bars, the man faces a ten-year ban on entering Czech territory after his release.
