On Thursday, the municipality of Kynšperk nad Ohří in the Sokolov district was shaken by a horrific event. Dozens of officers were deployed to the scene, searching the surroundings and streets of the town. The reason was the discovery that remains of a small child were located in the municipality.
Police officers charged a person with the grave crime of murder on Friday. According to the editorial information, the accused is the victim's mother, who is said to have confessed to the crime to investigators. The case is being investigated as filicide – the murder of one's own child.
"We have proposed to the public prosecutor that they submit a request to the court for remand in custody," said police spokesperson Jakub Kopřiva. If convicted, the accused faces up to twenty years in prison or an exceptional sentence.
Investigators have not provided further details about the case. The investigation is continuing.
