On Sunday morning in Brno, a routine traffic check turned into a police chase. A man at the wheel in Merhautova Street refused to stop when signalled by officers and began fleeing.

During his escape, he drove through streets in Husovice, where he first crashed into one private car in Elgartova Street. At the intersection of Merhautova and Jugoslávská streets, he then collided with two further cars. Police officers apprehended the man at this very location.

"Police officers detained him there. The 33-year-old driver tested positive for drugs and ended up in custody," said police spokeswoman Andrea Cejnková.

One of the people involved in the collisions sustained an injury. "He suffered a minor hand injury," Cejnková added. The case is now being investigated by South Moravian police.
