Weapon drawn during live ZDF interview in Berlin
In the middle of a ZDF interview at Boxhagener Platz in Berlin, a 19-year-old pointed a firearm at a woman – while the camera continued rolling. According to BILD, police identified the perpetrator from the recordings.
The ZDF team was conducting an interview with an employee of a social organisation on Boxhagener Platz when the young man approached on an e-scooter. He first asked which broadcaster the recording was being made for. Then the situation escalated: the 19-year-old drew a firearm and pointed it at the body of the woman being interviewed.
After a brief order to leave, the man departed the filming location and claimed that it had been a blank-firing weapon – according to the ZDF's response to BILD. He then drove away on the e-scooter. The entire threat was recorded in large part by the rolling camera.
"The ZDF team was on site to conduct an interview with a specialist from an organisation," confirmed a spokesman for BZ, which, like BILD, belongs to Axel Springer.
The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon. One day later, the ZDF filed a report with police. A ZDF employee also provided a photograph of the suspect. An officer recognised the alleged perpetrator in it: the 19-year-old is already known to police for other offences. According to current findings, nobody was injured.
