A man from Berlin is accused of meeting at least 22 women via online platforms, incapacitating them, raping them and filming the assaults. Investigators believe there are approximately 50 victims.

The Berlin public prosecutor's office filed charges on Tuesday against a 68-year-old man accused of systematic sexual offences. The suspect is alleged to have contacted women via dating websites, mixed sleeping tablets into alcoholic drinks and subsequently raped them. The assaults are said to have occurred between 2016 and 2022 in the capital.
According to the authority's statement, the man is charged "with 22 rapes" as well as "grievous bodily harm". The newspaper Der Tagesspiegel reports that investigators believe there are approximately 50 victims in total.
The suspect has been in pre-trial detention since March 2026. In early that month, officers searched his flat and discovered numerous alleged crimes against 58 women. The victims who have already been identified and questioned "could not recall the assaults and only learned of them during the investigation through video recordings", the judiciary stated.
The prosecution is requesting conviction and imprisonment for the defendant, who has made no comment on the charges. "To this day there are no indications of diminished or absent criminal responsibility", the public prosecutor's office clarified.
The case comes at the same time as another ruling by Berlin court: Shao Zhiting, a Chinese doctor, was sentenced to five years imprisonment for advising a group of sexual offenders on Telegram who used incapacitating drugs. He was found guilty of "serious assistance to rape" and "serious sexual coercion" of his fiancée in three cases.
