A 23-year-old from the Berlin Remmo family is standing trial after allegedly planning a breakout attempt of his brother from a forensic facility.

A 23-year-old man from the Remmo family must answer charges before the Berlin Regional Court. He is accused of organising the escape of his older brother from the hospital of the forensic detention facility in Buch in December 2023.
The prosecution assumes that the defendant, together with several accomplices, attacked the grounds of the forensic clinic on the night of 20 December. The group was reportedly masked and equipped with tools including an angle grinder. Two fences were destroyed and a door forced open. The damage amounts to over 1,500 euros.
Shortly before reaching the window of the brother's room, an alarm was triggered. The intruders had to flee without accomplishing their goal and left equipment on a meadow. Later, forensic investigators found genetic material of the defendant on one of the items.
A police officer reported to the court that he had seen a light-coloured BMW near the clinic grounds. The driver wore a head covering and accelerated as soon as he spotted the police. However, the licence plates that were noted belonged to other vehicles.
In the detained brother's room, emergency personnel discovered cash and two unauthorised mobile phones. One of them was stuffed in a sock. The prisoner allegedly told the officers that such operations usually succeeded. He also referred to Netflix series about prison escapes.
The 23-year-old made no statement in court regarding the accusations. The evidence hearing will continue in mid-June. Earlier in spring, two Remmo brothers were sentenced for arson attacks on prison service vehicles, though the verdicts have not yet become final. Source: Bild
