A married couple from Bochum has fallen victim to computer fraud. The victims received a fraudulent message that allegedly came from Volksbank. Through a link contained within it, they granted the perpetrators authorisation to access their account.

The unknown individuals subsequently used the permission for purchases at supermarkets of the REWE and Penny chains in Bochum, Gelsenkirchen and the surrounding area. An Aral petrol station was also involved in the fraudulent transactions.

Police are now searching for the person or persons responsible. The authority is accepting information and tips.
