In the early hours of Friday morning (10 July), a violent altercation broke out between multiple people at Frankfurt Central Station. Police describe it as a physical altercation that took place both outside the station building and in the track area.
Several of those involved sustained stab and cut wounds. The exact severity of the injuries and the background to the dispute initially remained unclear.
Due to forensic investigations, the area was partially cordoned off in the morning. The S-Bahn service was also affected by the measures.
The incident occurred just over two weeks after another incident at the same location, in which a police officer had shot at a man who had previously attacked an officer. The Frankfurt station district has long been regarded as a problem area with violent crime and drug-related offences.
