Most recently, a car caught fire on 21 August in a car park on Oldenburger Straße. Shortly afterwards, a garden shed on Panzerstraße went up in flames. Both structures were completely destroyed. The fire sites are located on different sides of Vareler Wald geographically.
Varel police station is now seeking witnesses who observed anything during the night or early morning hours. Information about suspicious persons or vehicles in the forest area could be crucial to the investigation. Police stress explicitly that even seemingly unimportant observations may be significant.
