Czech police have extradited detained German right-wing extremist Marla Svenja Liebichová to Germany, where she must serve a prison sentence.

Czech police transferred the detained German right-wing extremist Marla Svenja Liebichová from the remand prison in Litoměřice to Germany on Wednesday. The escort crossed the Czech-German border before 10.00 a.m. and formally handed over the 55-year-old to German authorities. Police announced this on the network X.
The district court in Pilsen had decided on the extradition last month; the court of appeal in Prague confirmed this decision as legally binding in the past week. Liebichová had resisted returning to her home country. In May, she expressed concerns to the Pilsen court about her safety and dignity in a German prison. The judge dismissed these arguments as self-serving, as Novinky.cz reports.
A court in Halle convicted Liebichová in 2023 – then still as a man named Sven Liebich – of incitement to hatred, defamation, insulting behaviour and violation of copyright in works of visual art to one and a half years in prison. Following an official change of gender at the registry office, the convicted person was to serve her sentence in a women's prison in Chemnitz, but did not appear there. In April this year, police arrested her on the basis of a European arrest warrant near Aš in the Cheb district.
The change of gender by declaration at the registry office had triggered a debate in Germany over the Self-Determination Act. According to the DPA news agency, the federal states of Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia now want to tighten the law to prevent its misuse.
