A small van that violated parking regulations has alerted investigators in Erfurt to an alleged drug dealer. Officers discovered the vehicle in the north of the city and searched for the registered owner.
During the check, a 34-year-old man appeared who was connected to the vehicle known to police. When they searched his person, officers found another car key. The second vehicle associated with it bore a forged number plate.
On the instruction of the public prosecutor's office, officers then examined the suspect, both vehicles and his flat. In the process, they seized drugs, several firearms, allegedly stolen items and further evidence suggesting commercial drug trafficking.
The 34-year-old from Erfurt was arrested and is now in custody pending trial. The investigation is being conducted, among other reasons, on suspicion of armed drug trafficking, document forgery and driving without a valid driving licence.
