Murder plot with favourite meal: trial begins in Wuppertal

As Google News DE — Crime (de) reports, two women from North Rhine-Westphalia and Bavaria have had to answer charges of attempted joint murder at Wuppertal Regional Court since Tuesday.

The 59-year-old main defendant from Velbert near Wuppertal and a 60-year-old co-defendant from Fürth in Bavaria are alleged by the public prosecutor to have made multiple attempts to kill the husband of the older woman with poison. The husband had previously announced his intention to divorce the 59-year-old and had begun a new relationship. She is said to have feared financial disadvantages resulting from the divorce.

The friend from Bavaria is said to have actively supported the plan — by obtaining toxic plants and providing advice via WhatsApp.

In early November 2025, after consuming his favourite dish — white beans with bacon — the then 56-year-old husband suffered severe poisoning symptoms and was admitted to hospital. Doctors placed him in an artificial coma; he was in life-threatening condition. He narrowly survived after doctors were able to stabilise his condition.
