Unknown perpetrators sprayed two swastikas on the wall of a gymnasium on Gleimstraße in Halberstadt during the night of Tuesday to Wednesday. Police are now investigating under charges relating to the use of symbols of unconstitutional organisations.
The graffiti in black paint was discovered on Wednesday, 8 July 2026. The city of Halberstadt has already commissioned the removal of the illegal graffiti.
The swastika is classified in Germany as a prohibited symbol of an unconstitutional organisation. Its use is fundamentally punishable under § 86a of the German Criminal Code, provided that none of the legally provided exceptions apply.
