Hanover: Driver seriously injured in shooting attack – police warn of suspect

A shooting occurred in the Groß Buchholz district of Hanover during the night leading into Saturday, in which a 25-year-old man who was driving a car was hit in the arm and seriously injured. The passengers brought the wounded man to a hospital and subsequently contacted police. Officers are now investigating on suspicion of attempted manslaughter.

A search for the alleged perpetrator is underway. Officers are appealing to the public not to confront the wanted man under any circumstances. This assessment is based on the view that the man possesses "a high potential for aggression" – not least because he may still be carrying a firearm.

The suspect is described as follows: he is approximately 1.62 metres tall and of slender build. His eye colour is brown, and he is said to have had a full black beard at the time of the incident. Particularly distinctive are tattoos featuring Arabic letters on the right hand and on the left side of the neck.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police on (0511) 109 55 55 or the emergency number 110.
