German police shot a man on Wednesday in Dresden who aimed a musket at pedestrians whilst shouting "Allahu Akbar".

Police in Dresden shot a 41-year-old Turkish national on Wednesday after he aimed a firearm at people. According to the police headquarters in the Saxony metropolis, the weapon was most likely a musket.

The incident occurred when the man aimed at pedestrians whilst shouting "Allahu Akbar". Officers intervened and shot the man dead. Apart from the 41-year-old, nobody was injured.

The motive for the act remains unclear. Investigations are ongoing.
