A 53-year-old Polish man was stopped on the A19 near Glasewitz driving a tractor whilst drunk and without a driving licence. The breathalyser test showed 2.36 per cent blood alcohol content.

German police officers in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern have removed a drunk 53-year-old man from Poland from traffic. The incident occurred during the night between Tuesday and Wednesday on Federal Motorway 19 near Glasewitz. The driver steered a tractor with an inconsistent, wavering course across the road. He is reported to have reached a speed of approximately 40 kilometres per hour.
Other motorists felt threatened by the strange behaviour and contacted the police. A patrol soon caught up with the agricultural vehicle and made it pull over to the side. Upon subsequent inspection, it emerged that the Polish man was clearly under the influence of alcohol. The breath test registered 2.36 per cent blood alcohol content. In addition, he lacked the appropriate authorisation to operate such machines.
The officers took the 53-year-old into custody. He now faces prosecution for driving under the influence as well as for driving without a valid licence.
