Trial in Vechta: 24-year-old accused of defrauding online retailers of nearly €25,000

A 24-year-old man from Dinklage has appeared in the District Court in Vechta to face charges. The accusation relates to commercial fraud in connection with orders placed with two major internet retailers.

Between spring 2021 and April 2022, the defendant allegedly placed a total of ten orders with Amazon and Zalando. The goods were delivered, but payment was never made. Instead, the young man claimed he had returned the packages and obtained reimbursement of the amounts owed from the retailer. The goods he actually received were resold to third parties.

The financial loss to the two companies totals nearly €25,000 according to investigations. Because the accused was 19 or 20 years old at the time of the offences, the case is being heard by a juvenile judge.

The charge is commercial fraud. This report is from NDR.de.
