The incident occurred in November of last year at the defendant's workplace. During a fierce argument, he is said to have first struck his colleague in the face. In the course of the altercation, he is alleged to have drawn a fruit knife and rammed it into the man's stomach.
The victim suffered severe internal injuries from the attack. Doctors were only able to save the 43-year-old from life-threatening danger through immediate emergency surgery.
Until a final judgment is reached, the presumption of innocence applies to the defendant.
