A violent incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon (8.7.26) at a school in Schongau in the Bavarian district of Weilheim-Schongau. Shots were fired at Welfen-Gymnasium, during which several people were injured.
According to initial police reports, there were numerous injured people in the school building. The exact number and severity of the injuries remained unclear initially. Emergency responders conducted a large-scale operation and arrested the suspect on the spot.
Police announced on platform X that a major police operation is currently underway at the gymnasium in Schongau and that several injured people are to be reported. The area surrounding the school has been cordoned off widely, whilst several helicopters circled above the scene and monitored the surroundings.
According to the newspaper Bild, four people were reportedly seriously injured in the shooting. Authorities continue to investigate the background of the incident.
