Marla-Svenja Liebich, 55, who until recently was known as Sven Liebich, was transferred to the women's prison in the city of Chemnitz. This was announced by a spokesman for the relevant public prosecutor's office. The prison administration is now examining how the convicted person will serve her sentence.
According to a report by Naftemporiki, Liebich has been a well-known figure in the far-right scene in eastern Germany for decades. In August of last year, she went into hiding after failing to report to the correctional facility to serve an 18-month prison sentence for defamation and incitement to ethnic hatred.
In April she was arrested in West Bohemia on the basis of a European arrest warrant. The Czech authorities rejected all applications for release.
At the end of 2024, the then-Sven Liebich officially changed her gender and registered as a woman after the corresponding self-determination law of the previous federal government under Olaf Scholz came into force in November 2024. The action was viewed as an attempt to misuse the German law on gender identity. The current federal government under Friedrich Merz has announced that it will review this law.
In 2022, Sven Liebich disrupted a "March of Pride" event for the LGBTQ+ community in Halle and called the participants "parasites of society," according to activists' reports.
