The Berlin Flight, Expulsion, Reconciliation foundation is suspected of a serious financial scandal. According to information from SPIEGEL, more than €500,000 are said to have been embezzled from the foundation's assets. The money is said to have been used, among other things, for the acquisition of luxury watches and gold bars.
The foundation operates a documentation centre in the Deutschlandhaus in Berlin. The alleged money outflows are said to have occurred through service providers such as PayPal and Amazon.
Previously, the institution had experienced political disputes. Now, in addition to the internal disputes, the foundation faces a criminal investigation on suspicion of breach of trust.
