German investigators have taken a further suspect into custody in connection with a fatal crime from May 2025 in Augsburg. The 55-year-old man is believed to have illegally held and resold a firearm that was later used in the crime. This was reported by Bild.

The 30-year-old mother of three children was killed in May 2025 at night in her home in the Haunstetten district of Augsburg by multiple gunshots to the head. At the time of the shooting, two of her children were also in the house.

Officers arrested the alleged perpetrator a few days after the crime. The Augsburg Regional Court sentenced him in June 2026 to a life sentence and found that the crime was of particular severity.

According to investigators' suspicion, the murder is believed to have been commissioned by a former partner of the victim. The couple had separated a few weeks before the crime. A separate criminal trial is proceeding against the man; he was arrested in May 2026, one year after the murder.

The clarification of the role of the now-captured 55-year-old is still pending. Investigations into this matter are continuing.
