Two masked men throw fireworks through window of refugee accommodation
In August, two unknown perpetrators threw a firework into an occupied refugee residential building in Weinstadt-Schnait. Police have now released video footage and are appealing for witnesses.

Attack on refugee accommodation — police seek perpetrators following video release
According to swr.de, police have released surveillance footage from a refugee accommodation in Weinstadt-Schnait. The material shows two masked men who approached a residential building during the night of 20 August and threw a burning object through a first-floor window. Inside, an explosion occurred with a pronounced flash of light.
The object thrown was a commercially available firework, a so-called Roman light — a stick from which sparks spray. Fortunately, no people were injured, and material damage was minimal. At the time, several refugees, including people from Gambia and Ukraine, were living in the building.
Investigators suspect a xenophobic or far-right extremist motive. State security of the criminal police was therefore brought in. "Given the context, this is an obvious possibility," said police spokesperson Robert Kauer. However, a conclusive statement about the perpetrators' ideology is not yet possible.
Shortly before the documented attack, a similar incident had occurred in the immediate vicinity on Wiesentalstraße. Police do not rule out that the same perpetrators could be responsible for both incidents.
According to police, public manhunts using video material are subject to strict legal thresholds for the protection of personal rights. Investigators must have pursued all other approaches first. Following the release of the video, two tip-offs have already been received, but only "very vague" ones. These are now being evaluated.
Anyone who recognises people in the video or can provide further information about the attacks in August is asked to contact the criminal police on telephone 07361/5800.
