Teenager admits: Placed stones on railway tracks in Esbjerg
A locomotive driver had to make an emergency stop of his train on Thursday at Spangsbjerg Station in Esbjerg after stones were found on the tracks. No persons were injured as a result of the harsh braking, according to South and Southern Jutland Police in a press release.
Police have identified and charged a 17-year-old boy who has admitted to placing the stones on the railway near Spangsbjerg Møllevej 80. The teenager is charged with endangering the life or health of others.
According to B.T., police warn that stones on railway tracks can cause serious injury or in the worst case derail a train.
– Fortunately, the locomotive driver managed to act in this case, says Police Superintendent Jesper Mørup from South and Southern Jutland Police.
Although the boy has admitted to the offence, the investigation into the case continues. Police urge parents to talk to their children about the dangers of placing stones on railway tracks.
