Seven years in prison for abuse of ten-year-old nephew
A 45-year-old man was on Friday sentenced to seven years in prison by the Odense Court for sexual abuse committed against his nephew over a period of nearly two years, according to a statement from the prosecution at Funen Police.
According to B.T., the abuse began when the boy was ten years old. The court has found that the offences spanned a period of one year and nine months.
Prosecutor Maria Blomsterberg describes the case as very serious.
– I think this is a very serious case, and that is given the child's age and the extent of the conduct, and that it is something which the court has found went on for a year and nine months, she said to DR Nyheder.
The convicted man appealed the verdict immediately, but continued to accept being held in pre-trial detention. He has denied guilt throughout the case, according to Fyens Stiftstidende, which has followed the case in court.
