65-year-old arrested after hidden recordings in TV 2 programme
A 65-year-old man is charged with incest, rape and indecent assault of his daughter in the period from 2012 to 2014, the prosecution at East Jutland Police has announced via the service Anklager Update. This is reported by B.T.
According to the charges, the daughter was around 12 years old when the sexual abuse allegedly took place.
The man was arrested on Tuesday at 10 o'clock following the TV 2 programme "Father's Little Girl" bringing new information to light in the case. In the programme, in which the man's three daughters participate, one of the daughters re-establishes contact with her father and secretly records him with the aim of getting him to confess to the abuse she believes he has committed. All three sisters speak out in the programme about crimes committed by their father.
According to TV 2, it is not the daughter who made the hidden recordings who is the injured party in the new case.
This is far from the first time the man has come under police scrutiny. In the 1990s, he was acquitted in a case in which he was accused of abuse of one of his daughters, who at that time was seven years old, according to TV 2. Two other reports concerning his other minor daughters never reached court. The authorities also received ongoing notifications of possible abuse of the girl who is now the injured party in the current case from 2013 onwards.
On Wednesday at 09.30, the 65-year-old will be brought before a preliminary hearing in Randers District Court, where the prosecution will seek to remand him in custody pending the ongoing investigation.
The man denies guilt. His defence counsel, lawyer Lasse Hummelhoff Frandsen, told TV 2 after the arrest that his client had been subjected to "significant pressure to confirm a particular account of the past" in connection with the hidden recordings.
