Europe's drug market is developing faster than authorities can keep pace with. A new group of substances is now causing health authorities across Europe – including in Denmark – to increase their readiness.
The substances are called nitazenes, spirochlorophine and orphines. These are names that few Europeans are familiar with. But behind the chemical designations lie some of the most powerful opioids ever found on the drug market. According to experts, they pose a serious and growing threat to public health in Europe.
The counterfeit pills are spreading across the continent and causing concern among both European and national health authorities.
