A man found dead in Gudenåen on Monday is according to police a victim of murder. The man has not yet been identified.
Autopsy confirms murder at Brovejen in Svostrup
A man who was found dead in Gudenåen near Silkeborg on Monday afternoon has been murdered. This has been confirmed by the Central and West Jutland Police in a press release following an autopsy, as TV 2 Nyheder reports.
A passer-by discovered the man in the water shortly before 16.30 on Monday. The location is a road over the stream called Brovejen in Svostrup. The area was subsequently cordoned off and remained so throughout the evening and night as police worked at the scene.
Initially, police could not confirm whether it was a criminal case. The autopsy has since removed all doubt.
"Now that we are no longer in doubt that we are dealing with a murder case, we are of course satisfied that we did not take any chances, but proceeded thoroughly from the start and secured any possible evidence both in the water and on land," says police commissioner and lead investigator Kresten Lund Breinhild in the press release.
The man has not yet been identified. Breinhild emphasises that it is now a central task to establish his identity.
"We would therefore very much like to hear about it if anyone is missing a man or has seen a man in the area matching the description," he says.
Police also urge witnesses who have observed anything suspicious around Brovejen on Monday or during the weekend to come forward.
