Chemical bottle exploded at Rynkevangskolen
A bottle containing chemicals exploded on Friday morning on a sports field at Rynkevangskolen in Kalundborg, according to Mid and West Zealand Police. The report came in at 11:33.
According to DR Nyheder, police believe the bottle was likely manufactured by one or more pupils at the scene. There were no injuries.
– When we arrive there, we see a bottle that has exploded in the air, and there is another one lying beside it, says deputy police inspector Henriette Vogt from Mid and West Zealand Police.
The other bottle was subsequently detonated in a controlled manner by the Defence's bomb disposal unit, EOD. Police are unable to say at present what the bottles contained, as investigations are still ongoing.
Five young people have been detained: two boys aged 14 and three aged 15. They are all charged with breaching the Weapons Act, according to the police district in a press release. The detained individuals are to give statements, after which police will assess the further course of action.
All children and staff have been evacuated from the school. Police are present in several locations in Kalundborg and urge parents to follow the school's instructions, which have been communicated via Aula.
– We ask parents to act according to the instructions which the school has communicated on Aula, the police say.
According to police, there is no danger to anyone in the area.
