A man found in the Gudenåen on Monday has been killed according to police. He has not yet been identified.

Autopsy confirms murder: Man found in Gudenåen was beaten to death

A man who was found lifeless in the Gudenåen near Brovejen north of Svostrup at Silkeborg on Monday afternoon has been killed. This was confirmed by Central and Western Jutland Police on Tuesday following an autopsy of the deceased, according to Politiken.

Police worked through the night at the scene and secured evidence both in the water and on land. Suspicion that a crime had been committed grew as the investigations progressed.

"Now that we are no longer in doubt that we are dealing with a murder case, we are naturally satisfied that we did not take any chances, but proceeded so thoroughly from the start and secured possible evidence both in the water and on land," says police commissioner and investigation leader Kresten Lund Breinhild in a press release.

The deceased has not yet been identified. He is described as approximately 30-40 years old, 165 centimetres tall, slim, with short, dark hair and short beard or long stubble. At the time of the crime, he was wearing light shorts with vertical stripes.

Police have not disclosed any potential suspects in the case.
