Remanded in custody after threats against officers in Aalborg

A man in his 60s was remanded in custody on Saturday afternoon by the court in Aalborg until 29 October. This was announced by prosecutor Mette Bendix from North Jutland Police according to B.T.

The man is charged with threatening police officers with an object resembling a weapon in connection with a violent incident on Friday afternoon on Suensonsgade in Vestbyen in Aalborg.

North Jutland Police received a report on Friday afternoon of a dispute between two people at the address. Two uniformed patrols were dispatched and made contact with those involved. Police assessed the situation as so threatening that officers fired shots. The number of shots fired has not been disclosed, and no one was injured.

The man was on conditional release from a previous prison sentence when the incident occurred. TV 2 Nord reports that the episode took place at the arrested man's residence.

Police do not wish to disclose what the relationship is between the two people involved in the conflict. North Jutland Police emphasised on Friday that it was an internal dispute, and the incident is being treated as an isolated case with no gang-related background.
