Educator charged with grooming and assault of six-year-old child at Furesø school
A male educator from Syvstjerneskolen in Furesø Municipality will appear for a bail hearing at Lyngby District Court on Tuesday. He is charged with grooming and sexual assault of a child aged approximately six years.
Educator accused of assault on pupil – remand in custody sought
A male educator employed at Syvstjerneskolen in Furesø Municipality is charged with having groomed and committed sexual assault on a child aged around six years. This has been confirmed by prosecutor Mette Skou Hansen from North Zealand Police to Ritzau, as cited by Politiken.
On Tuesday afternoon, the man will appear for a bail hearing at Lyngby District Court, where the prosecution will seek his remand in custody.
Assault from 2024 to 2026
According to the charges, the grooming of the specific child took place from August 2024 to April 2026, allegedly at Syvstjerneskolen. Sexual assaults are said to have occurred during the same period.
The prosecution believes that the man performed oral sex on the child on several occasions. He is charged with what the penal code designates as rape by sexual conduct other than intercourse.
Additional charges concerning unidentified victims
In addition to the assaults on the specific child, the man is also charged with sexual assault of several minors under 12 years of age who have not yet been identified. These matters are believed to span from 2009 and onwards to an unknown point in time and an unknown location. According to Politiken, it has not been specified how many children may be involved in these matters.
According to the charges, the man exploited his physical and psychological superiority over the children.
Municipality: "We are deeply affected"
Furesø Municipality confirmed on Tuesday afternoon to Ritzau that it has been informed by North Zealand Police about the case. School director Per Christensen will not comment on the details of the case out of consideration for those affected and the ongoing investigation.
"But we are deeply affected and naturally take the matter very seriously and are in close dialogue with the police," Christensen said in a statement on the municipality's website.
On the same day, the school's board, parents and staff were informed about the case. The municipality is also inviting parents to an information meeting where they can ask questions of the police, the school and the administration.
"We hope that the meeting can help create clarity and security in a situation which naturally can give rise to concern," Christensen added.
The municipality further states on its website that the police are in direct contact with all relevant parties in the case.
Court hearing expected to be held behind closed doors
It is unclear before the hearing how the man views the charges. Prosecutor Mette Skou Hansen will seek to have the proceedings closed, so that the police investigation and the man's possible statement remain confidential during the bail hearing.
