Educator charged with abuse of six-year-old child at Syvstjerneskolen in Furesø
A male educator will appear on Tuesday in a bail hearing, charged with grooming and sexual abuse of a child aged approximately six years during the period 2024–2026.
Educator appears in court following charges of abuse of schoolchild
A male educator from Syvstjerneskolen in Furesø Municipality will appear on Tuesday afternoon in a bail hearing at the District Court in Lyngby, charged with grooming and sexual abuse of a child aged approximately six years. This has been confirmed to Ritzau by prosecutor Mette Skou Hansen from North Zealand Police, as reported by Politiken.
The prosecution is seeking detention on remand for the man during the investigation.
Abuse allegedly took place at the school
According to the charges, the man groomed a specific child during the period from August 2024 to April 2026, whilst employed as an educator at Syvstjerneskolen. During the same period, sexual abuse is believed to have taken place — allegedly at the school's address in Furesø Municipality.
The prosecution believes that the man performed oral sex on the child on several occasions. He is charged under the provision of the Criminal Code that defines rape as sexual intercourse other than penetrative intercourse.
Grooming refers to a situation in which an adult builds a relationship with a child for the purpose of committing a sexual offence against that child.
Additional charges concerning unidentified victims
In addition to the abuse of the specific child, the man is also charged with rape involving sexual intercourse other than penetrative intercourse with children under 12 years of age — committed at an unknown location and unknown time, but allegedly from 2009 onwards. In these cases, the man allegedly exploited his physical and psychological superiority over several minors who have not yet been identified. The number of children involved has not been specified.
Municipality: "Deeply affected"
Furesø Municipality confirmed on Tuesday afternoon to Ritzau that it has been informed by North Zealand Police about the case. School Head Per Christensen does not wish to go into details out of consideration for those affected and the investigation.
"However, we are deeply affected and we naturally take the matter very seriously and are in close dialogue with the police," he wrote on the municipality's website.
The school's board, parents and staff at Syvstjerneskolen were informed on Tuesday, and the municipality is inviting parents to a meeting at which it will be possible to ask questions of the police, the school and the administration. According to the municipality, the police are in direct contact with all relevant parties.
Closed doors at the court hearing
Prior to the bail hearing, it is unclear how the man will respond to the charges. Prosecutor Mette Skou Hansen will demand that the doors be closed to the court hearing, so that the police investigation and the man's potential statement are kept confidential.
