The Public Prosecutor's Office in Puerto Plata sought remand custody against Alejandra Rojas Saldaña, alias "Yolaska", charged with the kidnapping and aggravated robbery of German citizen Uwe Kindervater. The incident occurred on Thursday, 22 October, according to data from the National Police gathered by infobae.com.

The hearing to determine the measure of coercion was set for Monday, 26 October at 09:00. The Public Ministry requested that Rojas Saldaña serve any eventual remand in the Rafey Women's Correction and Rehabilitation Centre in Santiago, in order to guarantee her presence in the proceedings and protect the victim.

Kindervater suffered multiple injuries during the incident, with a medical-legal incapacity of 21 days.

The facts according to the investigation

The investigation attributes to Rojas Saldaña and an accomplice who remains at large having entered the foreigner's residence at approximately 20:00. Both allegedly bound Kindervater's hands and feet and threatened him with death using a firearm.

The suspects took cash, bank cards and a mobile telephone. They also attempted to carry out electronic transfers and access the victim's accounts to withdraw an amount close to 40,000 euros (approximately USD 44,889), although the operation was not completed.

Rojas Saldaña maintained a romantic relationship with Kindervater of approximately six months. That relationship allegedly facilitated the second suspect's entry into the residence.

Escape interrupted at fuel station

After the assault, those involved allegedly transported Kindervater against his will in his own vehicle. The journey was interrupted at a fuel station on the Puerto Plata-Sosúa highway, in the municipality of Villa Montellano, where the victim took advantage of a lapse in supervision to exit the car and reach safety.

The man at large escaped in another vehicle also belonging to Kindervater. The National Police recovered two vehicles related to the case, including a white Honda CR-V belonging to the victim, according to reporting by Dominican news portal Acento.

Arrest and seized assets

Rojas Saldaña was detained in the Los Bordas sector of Puerto Plata on 23 October, following execution of arrest order number 2026-AJ0093267. During the procedure, officers seized 100 euros, USD 10 and 5,300 Dominican pesos, amounts which the authorities consider possibly linked to the stolen money.

The authorities are continuing their search for an individual known as "Jefri", identified as the other alleged participant. The investigation is also seeking to determine whether there were other persons involved in the incident.

Charges and evidence

The Public Prosecutor's Office in Puerto Plata provisionally classified the facts as possible violations of the Dominican Penal Code for aggravated robbery, kidnapping, criminal association, torture and barbarism. The charge also includes Law 631-16 on the control of weapons, ammunition and related materials.

The Public Ministry maintained that it has documentary, testimonial and expert evidence to support the existence of the incident and the alleged involvement of Rojas Saldaña. The determination of criminal responsibility remains the responsibility of the judicial authorities in Puerto Plata.
