A man was seriously wounded by a sharp instrument in central Vigo during the early hours of 21st after a dispute linked to a football match escalated into violence, the National Police reported on Friday. The brawl involved several people and, according to police sources, belts and broken bottles were used. The victim sustained a stab wound to the left side. When officers arrived at the scene, the wounded man was in a serious condition and the alleged attacker was fleeing.
One of the patrols immediately attended to the man on the ground: they covered the wound and applied compression techniques to stop the bleeding. The emergency services, upon arriving at the location, transported the injured man to hospital given the severity of his injuries.
Simultaneously, another police unit began pursuing the suspect. Officers kept him under observation at all times and ordered him by loudspeaker to stop his flight. They finally blocked his escape route with the police vehicle and proceeded with his arrest.
The arrested man was taken to police headquarters as the alleged perpetrator of attempted murder and was placed at the disposal of the courts.
