A resident of Alicante has been jailed on suspicion of sexually abusing more than twenty girls via the internet. The operation, carried out by the Civil Guard, began when a minor from Gran Canaria filed a complaint in 2024, according to Antena 3.

For more than ten years, the arrested man had been hunting profiles of minors on messaging applications and social networks. He presented himself as a boy named Juan, of an age similar to his targets, and spent weeks or months building trust. In some cases, the virtual relationship came to simulate a romantic relationship.

Once he had won the victims' trust—whose ages ranged from eight to sixteen years old—the accused persuaded them to photograph or film themselves in intimate situations and send him the files. Investigators have identified victims in different regions of Spain and also abroad.

A search of the detained man's home yielded a significant discovery: more than two hundred electronic devices—including mobile phones, external hard drives, computer equipment and portable memory units—with a total capacity of eighteen thousand gigabytes. Technicians from the Judicial Police Team of Santa María de Guía examined the contents and found an abundance of child sexual abuse material, which the accused had stored and organised in folders for his personal use.

The competent investigating court has decreed preventive custody, with no possibility of release on bail, for the arrested man.
