An individual was arrested in Vigo on suspicion of attempted murder after stabbing another man during a brawl between football players in the early hours of 21 June. The fight had erupted between opponents who had played against each other hours earlier. The arrested man was released with charges.

Officers intervened to break up a brawl in which several participants were throwing belts and broken bottles. In the midst of the commotion, they located a person seriously wounded who pointed to an individual fleeing the scene as responsible for the attack. A team of officers assisted the injured person, covering the wound and applying pressure to stem the bleeding until emergency services arrived. The injured man was transported urgently to a hospital.

The victim had a stab wound on the left flank, close to the heart. The suspected perpetrator managed to flee the scene, located in the city centre, although a patrol caught up with him shortly afterwards during a pursuit and ordered him to stop over a loudspeaker.

The arrested man was brought before Instruction Court number 6 of Vigo, which was on duty on 22 June. The court's judge ordered his release, as no request for remand in custody had been made, and imposed a restraining order preventing him from approaching the complainant. The case was opened as attempted murder, though it could be reclassified as assault during the investigation phase.
