A man has been remanded in custody following the discovery of two female bodies, aged 61 and 31, in a house in Las Lagunas, in the Málaga municipality of Mijas.

A man has been arrested following the discovery of two female bodies in a house in the Málaga municipality of Mijas. The deceased women, aged 61 and 31, bore injuries inflicted by a sharp object. Investigators have not ruled out the possibility that the fire which affected the property was deliberately started after the deaths.
The incident came to light in the early hours of Wednesday, at around 2.15am, when several neighbours alerted 112 Andalucía that flames and smoke were coming from a residence in the Las Lagunas area. The coordination centre immediately mobilised firefighting crews, 061 emergency medical personnel, Guardia Civil officers and members of the Local Police.
After extinguishing the fire, the fire crews found the lifeless bodies of the two occupants of the property inside. Guardia Civil officers observed signs of violence on the victims from the outset. Subsequent confirmation that both had died from sharp weapon injuries triggered an investigation that has concluded with the capture of the suspected perpetrator.
