The National Police have made five arrests in the Balearic capital in connection with the sale of illicit substances in different areas of the city. Two of the detentions took place when those involved were attempting to supply cannabis to minors. Another of those arrested was carrying more than half a kilogramme of marijuana on public transport infrastructure.
The operation began in Son Gotleu, where an undercover unit noticed two young people handing cash to a couple of individuals. A police officer caught up with them and demanded identification. The suspects confessed that the minors had asked them to obtain marijuana for them and that they were going to a nearby location to buy it and then hand it over. One officer seized traces of tusi, small bags for dosing the merchandise, and 350 euros in notes of different denominations.
That same day, near Son Banya, members of the Prevention and Response Unit set up a checkpoint. The passenger in an inspected vehicle admitted that he had purchased hashish moments before. He was hiding a piece of clothing between his legs that contained portions of hashish and cocaine, along with 450 euros divided into banknotes. He was arrested.
In a subsequent operation in Playa de Palma, officers managed to intercept a car that attempted to evade the checkpoint. Inside they found a bag containing eight individual doses of cocaine. The alleged person responsible was handed over to the judicial authorities.
Finally, officers from the Mobile Brigade–Transport Police, stationed on the island to strengthen summer controls, detected an intense smell of cannabis coming from an individual at the Intermodal Station. They seized more than half a kilogramme of marijuana and several doses of hashish. He was also arrested.
