A man has been sentenced to three years' deprivation of liberty for attacking another individual with a knife in the middle of a public street in A Coruña. The ruling was handed down on Tuesday by the second section of the provincial superior court, following an agreement between the prosecution and the defendant's lawyers.

The altercation occurred in February 2025. Both individuals were engaged in a heated argument when one of them decided to resort to physical violence. He delivered a punch that knocked his opponent to the ground. With the victim on the ground, he drew a cutting weapon and inflicted multiple wounds to his face.

Among the consequences documented was total paralysis of the left hemisphere of the face. Months later, the person who was attacked died, although the death was not related to the injuries sustained in the confrontation.

The Public Prosecutor's Office classified the facts as injuries with disfigurement. The condemned man must pay compensation to the victim's heirs in the amount of 46,725 euros.
