A man will be tried for five attempted murders after repeatedly striking his car against fifteen patrons in Os Mallos in August 2024; the Public Prosecutor's Office is seeking nearly three decades in prison.

The trial began on Tuesday, 30 June in the Coruña Provincial Court against a man to whom the public prosecution attributes five attempted murders. The incidents took place during the night of 10 August 2024 in the Os Mallos neighbourhood, specifically at the establishment O Pinchiño.
The violent sequence had been set in motion hours earlier, when a couple's quarrel in the area ended with the woman's arrest and admission to hospital. Later, in another hospitality establishment, the defendant encountered her. The woman affected explained what had happened and asked him to take her to her home.
Around midnight, the defendant had his car parked in front of the pub, whose terrace housed approximately fifteen people. The woman then appeared and confronted her partner, who was also there. Upon observing the argument, the driver chose to intervene in an extreme manner.
He switched off the vehicle's headlights, accelerated and drove onto the pavement, hitting a barrier that delimited the terrace. He then reversed and struck again, this time against the table where his acquaintances were located, causing them to fall onto the ground. The assault caused injuries to two individuals.
Far from ceasing, the defendant abandoned the car and physically assaulted the woman's boyfriend, being subdued by five bystanders. Whilst these individuals were remonstrating with him about his behaviour, gathered on the terrace near the entrance, the man got back into the vehicle, reversed and struck them for a third time, destroying the outdoor furniture. The car penetrated the establishment after smashing the partition window, drove through the interior and only stopped upon colliding with a gaming machine.
The prosecution's statement emphasises that the defendant was aware of the deadly risk his conduct entailed, particularly as among those present was a person with reduced mobility who used a wheelchair.
