Operation against copper theft in Palencia

According to cadenaser.com, the Civil Guard in Palencia arrested four individuals and investigated another in Valdemoro and Pamplona for a robbery at an industrial unit in Magaz de Pisuerga. The theft occurred in April when unknown persons gained access to the facilities in the industrial estate and stole cables from two alternators and the cabling of the video surveillance camera system.

The perpetrators deliberately cut off the surveillance system to avoid being identified. They also extracted all of the main power supply cabling, leaving the factory without electricity. Maintenance staff discovered the theft after finding the doors open and investigating the loss of power supply.

The value of the copper stolen and the damage caused to the facilities exceeded 100,000 euros. Following prolonged investigations, Civil Guard officers in Operation TABLASE identified the alleged perpetrators. The proceedings were placed at the disposal of the corresponding court.
