Man executed in Tarragona hospital after surviving shooting
A man was murdered in his hospital bed in Tarragona in the early hours of Thursday, thirteen days after being shot in Salou. The Mossos d'Esquadra are investigating the homicide.

Execution in Catalan hospital
According to The Olive Press, a man was executed in his hospital bed at 3 a.m. on Thursday at the Joan XXII hospital in Tarragona. The victim, of Turkish origin, had been shot multiple times on a street in Salou on 16 October.
The Mossos d'Esquadra, the Catalan regional police force, are investigating the crime. The victim had police protection until it was withdrawn on Monday, following a risk assessment that considered he had family members accompanying him in the hospital.
According to reports, the attacker waited until the victim was alone in the room. Medical and nursing staff found him with gunshot wounds and were unable to resuscitate him. In the earlier attempted murder, a shooting from a moving vehicle, the victim managed to survive despite serious injuries.
The Mossos link the initial incident to organised crime, possibly related to drug or arms trafficking. The two occupants of the vehicle in the first attack have not yet been identified.
Police sources cited by El País noted that the second successful murder attempt is unprecedented in the history of the institution. So far this year, nine people have been murdered by gunshot in Catalonia, reflecting concern about the proliferation of firearms in the region.
