Letter boxes and public spaces: two methods for drug trafficking in the centre of Málaga

The National Police has dismantled two drug dealing points operating from two separate addresses in Málaga city, according to diariosur.es. The operations were carried out in the city centre and in the Carretera de Cádiz district, resulting in three people arrested, two of whom have been placed in preventive custody by court order.

The first case began following complaints from residents of a building located in the city centre, who alerted officers about the constant stream of people unfamiliar to the building. After multiple surveillance operations, investigators established that drug exchanges were not carried out directly between seller and buyer, but through the building's communal letter box.

The business operator would previously deposit the requested cocaine doses inside the letter box, and buyers would leave the agreed amount there, without the two parties ever meeting. The mechanism was designed, according to investigators, to avoid being caught in the middle of a transaction.

Once the suspect was identified, he was arrested and his dwelling was searched. Inside, 350 grammes of cocaine, over 9,000 euros in cash and two high-end vehicles were seized. When brought before the court, the judge ordered him remanded in preventive custody.

The second operation focused on a man who was selling drugs in public spaces in the western area of the city, openly and in front of bystanders unaware of the transaction. Police investigations revealed that the man was supplied from his own home, where he lived with his partner.

Following sustained surveillance, officers detected the sale of small packets and intercepted several buyers, from whom cocaine and heroin were seized. The search of the dwelling allowed for the seizure of 29 heroin packets, 46 crack cocaine packets and over 500 euros in cash. A man and a woman were arrested; the court ordered preventive custody for him following his appearance before the judge.
