A man has been detained by the Civil Guard as the alleged perpetrator of three offences following the collision that claimed the life of a motorcyclist nearly 50 years old on Friday morning at 6:00 am on the N-620 road, passing through Villares de la Reina (Salamanca), according to cadenaser.com.
The crash, caused by a collision between a car and a motorcycle, left the motorcycle driver dead. The two occupants of the car were unharmed but abandoned the scene in the vehicle involved, returning later to the location of the incident in a different automobile.
Civil Guard officers detained the car driver and are accusing him of manslaughter through negligence, abandonment of the accident scene, and driving under the influence of alcohol. The detainee faces penalties that, combined, amount to several years' imprisonment according to the Penal Code: three to six months for driving under the influence of alcoholic drinks, one to four years for manslaughter through negligence where the outcome is fatal, and six months to four years for abandoning the scene of the accident, along with revocation of the driving licence for between one and four years.
The emergency service 112 had initially provided incorrect information that the victim was 30 years old, a detail that the service itself later corrected.
In a separate incident, the 112 emergency service of Castilla y León received notice at 23:47 hours on Sunday night of a hit-and-run on Glorieta Virgen de Loreto, in the capital of Salamanca. According to the report, a woman approximately 30 years old was injured. The Operations Room transferred the alert to the Local Police of Salamanca, the National Police, and Healthcare Emergencies–Sacyl, which sent resources to attend to the injured woman.
