Arrested with cocaine in La Barrosa and another driver investigated for extreme speeding

Officers from Chiclana Local Police detained a 56-year-old man, identified as VMML and a resident of Constantina (Seville), in the early hours of Saturday 22 August as the presumed perpetrator of a public health offence, according to chiclana.es.

The intervention originated from a bottle party control at the second track in La Barrosa. A patrol observed four people next to a vehicle with foreign registration plates in suspicious circumstances. Upon noticing the police presence, two of them fled; the officers then focused on the vehicle's driver.

After inspecting the car, the police found approximately 56 grams of cocaine under one of the seats. In the detainee's wallet, 774 euros in cash were also found, distributed in 50, 20, 10 and 5 euro notes. Given the quantity of substance seized and the evidence observed, he was arrested, and the drug and money were confiscated.

Driver investigated for travelling at 118 km/h in a 30 km/h lane

In a separate incident, officers from the Accident Investigation unit of Chiclana Local Police identified the driver of a vehicle captured by a radar on Molino Viejo road travelling at 118 km/h in a stretch limited to 30 km/h, nearly four times the permitted speed.

After analysing the speed camera images, the vehicle owner was summoned and the driver was identified. The driver is attributed with a traffic safety offence for exceeding the established speed limit by more than 60 km/h on an urban road.

This offence is punishable under the Penal Code with imprisonment of three to six months, a fine of six to twelve months or community service of between 31 and 90 days. In any case, it carries suspension of the driving licence for a period of between one and four years.

The area in question experiences intense vehicle traffic and has several children's parks in its vicinity. On the 30 km/h road, cyclists and users of personal mobility vehicles (PMVs) are also obliged to travel, which makes compliance with the established speed limits especially relevant.
