Man arrested in Córdoba after attempting to ram shop with car
A man was brought before a judge on Thursday 2 July after attempting, without success, to force entry into a shop in Fernán Núñez by ramming his vehicle against the shutters.
The incident took place in the early morning hours, when the suspected perpetrator deliberately crashed into the shop window on two occasions. The glass withstood the impact and the man failed to gain access to the interior or make off with any goods.
Faced with the failure of the manoeuvre, he fled the scene. The Guardia Civil deployed a surveillance operation that resulted in his arrest within a short space of time. So far, no information has emerged regarding his identity, criminal record or whether he was carrying any instrument that could be used as a weapon.
This type of crime, technically known as "alunizaje", involves using a car as a battering ram to break down doors or windows of commercial premises. It has become a common method in industrial estates and business parks, where robbers take advantage of the absence of witnesses during the night to act with greater impunity.
