Officers from the Prevention and Intervention Unit (UPRI) of the Autonomous Police detained a 37-year-old man in Granadilla de Abona, Tenerife, as the suspected perpetrator of a gender-based violence offence, according to rtvc.es.
The operation was initiated after the Emergency and Safety Coordination Centre (CECOES) 112 received an alert regarding a possible episode of gender-based violence in the municipality. The officers immediately travelled to the location to verify the situation and activate the corresponding police operation.
After gathering the necessary evidence in the area, the officers proceeded with the detention of the suspected aggressor. The Canarian Police prepared the corresponding proceedings to place the detainee at the disposal of the competent judicial authority, which will assume supervision of the case.
The General Body of the Canarian Police (CGPC) reiterated its commitment to the protection of victims and the prevention of violence against women, as well as its collaboration with specialised assistance resources for such situations.
The gender-based violence assistance service of the 112 emergency line, overseen by the Canarian Institute of Equality (ICI), offers specialised assistance 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This resource allows for the activation of an immediate emergency response and facilitates advice and support for women in a situation of gender-based violence.
