Scaling the façade and threats in Palma
According to El Confidencial, the National Police arrested a man for allegedly threatening and assaulting his partner after breaking into her home by scaling the building's façade in Palma. The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, when several patrol units responded urgently to the address following a distress call.
A woman reported that her partner had climbed up the building's façade to the first floor and forced entry through her bedroom window. A neighbour also alerted officers that a woman was calling for help whilst a man was shouting violently. Police officers managed to get the woman to open the door after several attempts. Nervous and distressed, she explained that she had been sleeping when she heard noises at the window.
The suspect, described as "extremely jealous and possessive", managed to force access and burst into the bedroom. He violently threw the mattress, causing the woman to fall to the floor, and smashed her mobile phone until it broke. When she asked him to leave the flat, he refused. Upon hearing officers knocking on the door, the man told the victim: "If you open the door I will kill you".
When questioned by police, the suspect admitted that he knew his partner would not open the door for him, so he decided to climb onto a van and scale the building's façade until he reached the window. The man was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of breaking and entering and assault offences.
