A doctor has been arrested in San Juan de Aznalfarache, Seville, as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against sexual freedom, according to a statement issued by Spain's National Police on Thursday and reported by elmundo.es.
The complaint was filed by a patient who reported having suffered unwanted touching in intimate areas during an examination, as well as actions that, in her view, were unrelated to the medical tests that prompted the visit.
The woman explained to authorities that initially she did not know how to react, owing to the inherent trust that characterises medical care. It was only after reflecting on what had happened that she decided to file the complaint.
Following the complaint, investigators initiated the appropriate procedures to clarify the circumstances of the case and gather the necessary evidence for its clarification. Police investigations determined that there were sufficient grounds to proceed with the arrest of the medical professional.
Once police procedures were concluded, the detainee was placed at the disposal of the judicial authorities.
